MODEL OF CULTURE FUNDING IN ZENICA-DOBOJ CANTON

Summary/Abstract: Economic instruments are among the most important mechanisms that the state and its bodies have at their disposal in the process of implementing public policies. This especially refers to the cultural policy by means of which the state intervenes in the cultural sector. The organization of cultural manifestations, the protection of cultural heritage and the activities of cultural institutions are predominantly financed from budget funds. The paper presents the competences of state bodies for the cultural sector at all levels of government. The competence for the area of culture in the Zenica-Doboj canton is explained in particular. The paper focuses on the analysis of the culture funding model in the Zenica Doboj Canton for the period 2017 - 2021. The level of allocations for culture from the municipal, city and cantonal budgets was analyzed. The paper presents the basic features of the culture funding model in the Zenica-Doboj Canton with identified weaknesses and a proposal for improvement.
