Summary/Abstract: The research brings to the fore relevant information about the linguistic programme in Romanian from 1947-1989 which can be found in the most important publication that describes the entire activity of the Holy See, LʼAttivita della Santa Sede. I studied this volume in Archivio Editoriale Multimediale del Dicastero per la Comunicazione, Vatican Radio. In the 42 volumes we found an evolutionary, contextual description of the programme in Romanian which, starting from experimental broadcasts, over time outlined a linguistic-identity profile, being part of the first 10 programmes of Vatican Radio. At the same time, we tried to emphasise and interpret some of the messages that had a strong identity character identified in the editorial archive. The documents of the Romanian language department can be found chronologically ordered from 1957 to 1989 in the 64 files stored in special, secure cabinets. The collection kept in the archive of the editorial office is very special, encompassing “unique units – supporting texts” with a special Romanian cultural and identity value. Therefore, it can be emphasised that the programme in Romanian has an impressive longevity (starting in 1947) and had a well-deserved place among the most important language departments of Vatican Radio.
