Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the textual and lexical level of the Gospel from Hval’s Codex, a Bosnian Church Slavonic manuscript written in 1404 for Hrvoje Vukčić Hrvatinić. Given that earlier research by a Bosnian group of Church Slavonic manuscripts suggested that one of the templates of Bosnian manuscripts was an older liturgical tetra, we analyzed the textual and lexical level to show whether the text of the Hval’s Gospel can confirm these assumptions. A comparison of the textual and lexical level of Hval’s Gospel and the Banic Bulgarian Gospel supports the thesis that the older liturgical tetra was one of the templates of Hval’s Gospel. In addition, the analysis shows that a trained scribe, as Hval says, makes numerous mistakes, which are, most often, the result of memory interfering in the process of writing text.
