Summary/Abstract: Is it possible to discuss extremely dramatic global problems, such as refugees, with humour? My answer is pointedly: yes, it is possible and sometimes it is recommendable. Humour itself is a form of resistance and imagination and occasionally it is the more efficient form. Hence, to prove it, I have chosen two examples from the East Europe: the Polish film Never Gonna Snow Again by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert and the Bulgarian film Fear by Ivaylo Hristov. They both were produced last years and represent the newest tendencies on how to break prejudices, intolerance, local hostility or strange behaviour, homesickness, and different civil rules. Furthermore, they both use language of empathy and fantasy.
