Summary/Abstract: A few notable occurrences of the term imāgō, inis, f. exemplify Cicero's use of this term inserted in disputationes which are centered notably on the question of the representation of the divine as well as that of the immortality of the soul and the posterity of men. These occurrences highlight his argumentative (and more specifically refutative) techniques in the context of conceptual debates representative of the philosophical issues of the late-Republican period.
