Simple Elements of Spelling and Punctuation in the Primary Grades

Summary/Abstract: Learning the rules of spelling and punctuation is an important task of the school,knowing and respecting these rules gives the student the opportunity to correctlyexpress his ideas both in writing and orally.In the study of spelling, normative, descriptive and productive objectives are pursuedwhich condition and support each other. Thus, learning spelling and punctuationmust aim at achieving the three objectives. The normative aim aims at learningnorms, rules, principles, spelling and punctuation. Their learning is not an end initself, it should have a functional, instrumental character. Norms represent the toolsto prevent wrong writing, which is achieved in the process of their application in thepractice of reading and writing.
