CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY STUDIES IN TURKEY: ACCORDING TO GOOGLE ACADEMIC DATABASE

Summary/Abstract: Culture, which is defined as the lifestyle of people living in a particular time and region; is the combination of language, religion, economy, art, music, literature, population, transportation, clothing styles, daily habits, architectural styles, as well as field and garden models and food varieties. When people encounter geographical elements, their own culture plays a great role in shaping them and this leads to the formation of different cultural regions. These cultural differences are studied by cultural geography, which is one of the sub-branches of human geography. The research is important as it is thought to provide resources to those who want to acquire information about cultural geography, which is a wide field. The aim of this study is to determine and examine the studies carried out in the period from the 2000s to the present within the scope of cultural geography. In this research 268 academic articles, which were obtained via Google Academic data, were studied. The data obtained were evaluated using the document analysis method which is one of the qualitative research methods. As a result of this study, it was concluded that mostly qualitative methods were used in 268 studies that were examined, and that the number of studies grew in recent years, and also the subject of cultural tourism was widely discussed in the studies. In the research, 268 academic studies reached in line with Google Academic data were examined.
