Summary/Abstract: Numerous attempts have been made to define the concept of imperialism since its inception. The repertoire of interpretations is very wide, and since it is a very complex historical phenomenon, essentially everyone has discussed the topic according to their own values and interests. To facilitate navigation through a wide range of interpretations, colonial expansion, one of the namesakes of imperialism and one of its most important elements, is highlighted.
