Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to explain a process of expographic conception and production by a designer who occupies the position of scenographer. We hypothesize that the designer's skills contribute to the emergence of original methods and practices in the accomplishment of this task. The field studied is a museographic discovery tour of the site of the Charterhouse of Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez in its heritage and environmental aspects. The itinerary, punctuated by installations, has the particularity of offering an exhibition devoted to the design process of this project as the first stage of the visit. Our approach is based on a model of phenomenological analysis that mobilises concepts from anthropology, comprehensive analysis and pragmatism: device, intention and visiting situation. It is the work of a researcher-visitor. This research highlights the integrative dimension of the scenographic design which modifies the classic distinction between the thing exhibited and the exhibition of the thing. We also underline the frequency 27of situations of visitor involvement that can go as far as a physical commitment lived as an expographic experience. The analysis of the "research wall", a heuristic tool conceived and practiced by the designer, opens up avenues for understanding the conditions of creation and the modalities of the method.
