Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the modes of epiphany of saints in two collections of miracles of St Demetrius and one collection of miracles of St Artemios. In particular, the author traces the distinction (or, often enough, the lack thereof) between ‘dream reality’ and ‘waking reality’ in the miracle stories, in an attempt to determine how the two could become blurred or transformed in order to create more convincing and powerful narratives.
