Summary/Abstract: The goals of the study are to examine the current status of ecotourism in Ordu, Turkey, specify target markets (and how they can increase their shares in these markets),and explore the province’s ecotourism potential. We employed a mix of qualitative and descriptive research methodology, largely collecting our data through interviews we conducted back in December 2021. We then used content analysis to examine the results. Our preliminary findings reveal that Ordu’s natural beauty is its biggest assent, and that it is filled with plenty of cultural and historical elements ideal for tourism. Other assets include how its laid out, the opportunities it offers people, its geographical conditions, destination image, culinary culture, and economic appeal. By contrast, it also has lots of weak points as well, namely: poor infrastructure and superstructure, a lack of industry, destruction of natural zones, marketing and image problems, geographical obstacles, political deadlock, and next to no public consultation. Nevertheless, it has the potential to draw in foreign investment provided local government work on the aforementioned issues, as well as crank up service quality and strategic planning.
