Summary/Abstract: The analysis of the interlanguage, seen as a continuum of transitional language systems proper to the student learning a foreign language, needs a methodology that goes beyond the tight space of the conformity with the norm of the target language. In this paper, we propose a methodology for describing the interlanguage, using the UBR (unique bigram ratio) index by which we can calculate the syntactic diversity of a written production, more precisely the predictability of the word sequences. Some of the results of pretesting this methodology will be presented in this paper.
