Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on can. 1379 § 4, which appeared in Book VI of CIC/1983 after Pope Francis’ amendment of canon criminal law, and which introduces a new offence of the crime of illicit administration of the sacrament. Given the general wording of this canon, the article gives a cross-section of the individual sacraments and possible cases that would meet this offence. It also points out a certain lack of clarity in this new code provision, which is somewhat inconsistent with other statements by the legislator.
