Summary/Abstract: In this study, the election of Kastamonu senators, their backgrounds and senate activities were discussed. The main source of the research was the CVs and election records of the Kastamonu senators in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the Official Newspaper and the local newspapers published in Kastamonu, the Republican Senate Record Journals and the related Grand National Assembly of Turkey publications. After the Turkish Armed Forces seized the administration of the country on May 27, 1960, the 1961 Constitution adopted a bicameral system. Between 1961 and 1980, one part of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey was formed by the National Assembly and the other part was the Senate of the Republic. The Senate of the Republic, also known as the "readers' assembly" among the people, consisted of natural members, members elected by the President, and 150 members elected by general voting. Three elections were held in Kastamonu in 1961, 1968 and 1977 to determine the members of the Senate of the Republic. Of these three elections, the 1961 election was the general election, and the 1968 and 1977 elections were one-third renewal elections. Between 1961 and 1980, 4 senators represented Kastamonu in the Senate of the Republic, namely Ahmet Nusret Tuna, Mehmet Çamlıca, Mehmet Seydibeyoğlu and Ali Münif İslamoğlu. All of these senators were elected by universal suffrage. Kastamonu senators took part in various commissions during their 19 years in the senate and tried to be useful by performing a total of 453 activities.
