Summary/Abstract: Purpose - Based on the dynamic capabilities theory and the hierarchy of capabilities view, IT Capabilities is considered a lower-level capability that contributes to the formation of a higher-level capability that has a direct impact on organizational performance. Organizational agility is a dynamic high-level organizational capability that directly affects organizational performance. In this context, this study aims to reveal whether organizational agility has a mediating role in the effect of IT capabilities on organizational performance. Design/methodology/approach - The model proposed in the research was analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique with the data collected from 127 senior IT managers working in different businesses in different sectors. Findings – It has been found that IT capability has a significant and positive effect on decision-making agility and sensing agility. In addition, it was found that decision-making agility had a positive and significant effect on organizational performance, but sensing agility did not have a significant effect on performance. As a result of the mediation analysis, a full mediation role was found in the effect of decision-making agility and IT capability on organizational performance. Discussion: The full mediation role of organizational agility supports the view that IT capabilities do not directly affect performance, but through high-level capabilities. In addition, the finding of the effect of organizational agility on organizational performance once again proves how important agility is for today's businesses. Another important result is that while decision-making agility affects organizational performance, sensing does not affect organizational performance. This result shows that the sensing of changing events in the environment cannot have an effect on performance unless action is taken as a reaction to the environment.
