Summary/Abstract: The homilies on Hexameron (Εἰς τὴν Ἑξαήμερον) of Saint Basil the Great represent unique and quite original interpretation of the six days of creation. This work is not a complete whole, since our Saint did not write about the creation of humans in the image of God. Nevertheless, the work is characterized by combination of typological and literary methods of in-terpretation of biblical texts with a certain amount of allegory, and it is also an attempt of dialogue between Orthodox-biblical and philosophical-scientist worldviews. In Hexameron, philosophy is represented as theoretical, i.e. as philosophical theories on the origins of cosmos, but also as practical – in the sense of scientific achievements of the time. This paper attempts to show how Saint Basil made the dialogue between theology and philosophy possible in his Hexameron, with special emphasis on the term dialogue.
