The activity of the Polish-American Council of the United States 1938-1978

Summary/Abstract: The author characterizes, using extensive documentation, charity activities of the Polish American community for Poland. He discusses the problem by showing the activities and achievements of the Polish American Council, with particular emphasis on World War II period. Much attention is devoted to the discussion of political and organizational determinants of these activities during the Polish People's Republic period, until the closure of the charity action in 1973.
