Summary/Abstract: After 1989 due to the transformation of the political system in Poland, also the state's policy towards Polonia and Poles living abroad had changed. The author describes how and why previous institutions that had taken care of the Polish diaspora were dissolved and replaced by new ones. In the article a special attention is put on the origins and activity of the Association “Polish Community”. The article characterizes the directions and aims of state institutions that work with Polonia, especially the Senate.
