Summary/Abstract: Ideas as well as facts are covered in political philosophy. While real-politics make political reality intelligible with empirical evaluation, idealist theories use normative one. The common approach is preferring one of these attitudes to the other exclusively. That is, while real-politics prefer to stay away from normativity, idealist theories avoid from positivistic results. As an alternative, it is a reasonable approach to make a political ethos discussion that goes back and forth between these two poles, considering the fluidity and volatility of the political field, and support the individual’s character and inclination with intellectual virtues. This study reaches two conclusions. First, associating metis, epistemic virtues and epistemic vices with rhetoric will contribute to political epistemology. Second, political ethos covers both politics with its changing aspect and individual character with its unchanging aspect and habits. Thus, this study reconsiders the possible contribution of rhetoric to contemporary political philosophy, deliberation and argumentation.
