Summary/Abstract: In samples of fresh vegetables and fruits, food products of domestic production, selected in rural markets, in shops, in preschool institutions of four pilot districts of Moldova, was determined the content of the following heavy metals: copper, zinc, iron, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, lead, cadmium and chrome. Based on the results of a survey of the population of four pilot rural districts, a list of studied products (fresh vegetables and fruits, food of plant origin) was determined. The results of the analysis showed that the investigated heavy metals accumulated in all samples of fresh vegetables, legumes and in products of processing plant raw materials, with the exception of residual amounts of mercury, the content of which was below the detection limit of the method. Taking into account the daily diet of a rural dweller, it can be assumed that the consumption of foodstuffs containing residues of copper, cadmium and zinc exceeding the MPC may have a negative impact on health.
