Summary/Abstract: Some results of the study of the prerequisites and conditions for the formation and development of urban tourism are presented. The historical and theoretical aspects of urban tourism are described, including the state of its regulation in Moldova. The conclusions and recommendations of the author on improving the processes of forming an innovative mechanism for urban tourism in Moldova on the basis of the implementation of the UN SDG No. 11 within the blue-green concept of urban development and the cluster approach to the metropolitan urban tourist agglomeration are given.
