Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the application of Gestalt therapy approach with a team consisting of five members within a larger organizational field from the public sector. Gestalt consultants were invited by the team leader to help team members to maintain high motivation level under conditions of increased workload. Through the presence of consultants in the team field, the contract was redefined over time and the new contract included providing feedback to team members about team dynamics and providing interventions that would support further team development. Team coaching took place through two phases (diagnosis phase and intervention phase), which are described in detail in this paper. In order to implement the coaching process with the team, the concept of self and its functions were used as a dominant support in understanding the complexity of the organizational system, understanding team dynamics and planning interventions. As we can observe each individual through the perspective of the theory of the self, so we can do same with the teams and organizations - how they form and change in a network of relationships. Interventions were planned with the aim of balancing the functions of the self, i.e. strengthening the presence of the Id function and Persona, as well as facilitating the team’s passage through the contact cycle of experience, i.e. facilitating the team’s passage through the phases in which it was diagnosed that the team makes interruption of contact (in the phases of awareness, contact and withdrawal).
