Summary/Abstract: The museum is one of the cultural spaces, which represents the material and spiritual life of human history. In the case of local museums, they present the past of a community from ancient times. The existence of some local museums expresses the desire and the need for the historical legitimisation of a community, in a certainly given epoch, namely, in the case of the Transylvanian Saxons in the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. This was also the case with the Sighișoara museum, which opened its doors on June 25, 1899. The year 1925 brought a new stage in the history of the museum. From now until the nationalisation of 1951, the representatives of the presbytery of the Evangelical Church A.C. in Sighișoara will be in charge of the institution's administration. We notice a sustained activity for the enrichment of the collections, the inventory and the arrangement of new exhibitions, through which we wanted to offer the visiting public a complete picture of the past, customs and traditions of the inhabitants of the old medieval city on Târnava Mare River. Even if the lack of money meant that some of the museum's arrangement and development plans were not put into practice due to the lack of financial support, nevertheless the Sighișoara museum had a form and a structure, which allowed in 1933 to make its first catalogue of the exhibitions, which were organised taking into account the museological norms of the time. We can say that this period was one of profound achievements, a culmination of the work done through 33 years, when the group of devotees of the past, gathered around doctor Josef Bacon, collected objects, inventoried them, and presented them to the visiting public, consequently contributing to the persistence of the Sighișoara museum to this day.
