Summary/Abstract: This article is about the evolution of views of the polish philosopher Stanisław Leopold Brzozowski, who lived in the 19th and 20th centuries. Despite his premature death, he went through a long and intricate intellectual path. In the beginning, he was an atheist rejecting religious and patriotic values. Later he became fascinated with the philosophy of Immanuel Kant and Johann Gottlieb Fichte. Based on the thoughts of Karl Marx, he formulated his original concept of „labor philosophy”. Over the years Brzozowski began to recognize the importance of the Catholic religion in the social and cultural sphere. In the last years of hislife (1910 – 1911), Cardinal John Henry Newman became his „spiritual master”. Newman is a Saint of the Catholic Church today. At that time Brzozowski’s views were converted into Catholicism. What was the nature of this conversion? This article is an attempt to answer this question.
