Summary/Abstract: The question of hope is an issue often raised by theologians over the centuries. It is the foundation and the leitmotif of the Gospel message. A special interest in Christian eschatological hope can be found in the works of Joseph Ratzinger/ Benedict XVI. The Germantheologian has dealt with the topic of hope many times, analyzing it from various perspectives and in many aspects. The article is a fundamental theological analysis of selected works of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI concerning Christian eschatological hope. The works of the German theologian are characterized by an original and deep look at the question of hope, both from the biblical and anthropological sides. They also constitute the factual and rational justification of the value of Christian hope in the modern world.
