Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to show the range of techniques used by an elected representative in Cameroun in order to create the image of a leader deeply concerned by local development. We shall thus examine the way in which she reacts throughout an interview by means of prosodic and referential cues, sometimes by recounting the already-achieved development, sometimes by adopting various enunciative strategies to express the well-being aimed at. The corpus subjected to our analysis is an extract from an interview that Ketcha Courtès, one of the great female figures in Cameroon, granted to Alain Belibi on the set of the programme Actualités Hebdo of the CRTV. The analytical framework used in this article is M. A. Morel and L. Danon-Boileau’s enunciative linguistic theory which highlights the relevance of intonation in the interrelation between syntax and prosody when conveying an oral message.
