Summary/Abstract: For millennia, man has appropriated architecture to leave his mark. This meets his need to express himself and communicate. Graffiti in its own right has become a unique means of communication today. Present on various supports in urban spaces, graffiti seems to challenge us, give us appointments for events, inform us about current affairs, convince us politically, move us. Suddenly, the graffiti becomes speech, a dynamic process by which its author establishes a relationship with the interlocutor to transmit or exchange ideas, knowledge, emotions. As a result, although non-institutional, graffiti addresses the same themes discussed by the traditional media and with more freedom. The graffiti has the same functions as the mass media, which more or less gives it the quality of a communication medium alongside the mass media. For us, graffiti is an inscription or a painting made on the walls of monuments or objects located in public space. It can also be defined as being essentially a text/image addressed freely to the community and drawn on media that had not been designed for this purpose.
