Summary/Abstract: The Gacka Chakavian dialects from the area of Otočac have not been well researched and documented. This paper aims to show that even in such rare themes, numerous phonological and morphological features of speech can be found. The research method was field research, before which all published dialectological materials were consulted (e.g. Rȋčnik gȁcke čakãvšćine, Kompolje – Narodni život i usocaici, Tako se ekeden jejlojjelo u Gacka, etc.). It is typical for the Gacka Chakavian region that the feast days of male saints mostly bear feminine names (Jȍsipova, Jũrjeva, Ilȋnja...). The same is the case with non-personalised neuter holidays (Spȁsova, Tȇlova), which are actually adjectives that have become nouns (Jȍsipova or Kižȅva mȁša...). In some cases, metathesis occurs (Fajbȁnova – Fabijanovo; Lozȃrija – Rozalija, Majka Božja od Ružarija). The absence of the phoneme “h” can be noticed (Dȏva – Duhovi, Mijȍlja – Miholje), whilst in some cases contraction also occurs (Dȏva – Du(h)ova). Many rare adjectives can also be found (na Blȁgovista trȏjega mȇsa). The consistent application of the Jakubinski-Meyer law in the reflection of groups of animals (Svićnȉca, Stȉpanja, Tȇlova, Cvetnȉca, Čȉsta srȇda) is also evident.
