Wielki słownik języka polskiego PAN as a thematic dictionary

Summary/Abstract: The article describes those features of the Wielki słownik języka polskiego PAN (“Polish Academy of Sciences Great Dictionary of Polish”) which make it possible to use it as a thematic dictionary of Polish (the largest one in terms of the number of the classified units). The first part reminded the basic principles of the thematic classification adopted for the division of the vocabulary, the second part described the technical methods of using the dictionary’s advanced search engine to select the thematic vocabularies, the third part presented the statistical data concerning particular thematic fields of the dictionary (valid as of August 2021), and provided the preliminary conclusions following from their general analysis
