Summary/Abstract: “The Past” is a significant literary text in Bulgaria from the end of 19thcentury. Zaimov’s text is based on three main literature elements: psychological, fictional and historical. Stoyan Zaimov emphasizes the psychological and fictional elements. The narrator‘s approach in the book “The Past” provides a detailed description of the characters. The author shows interest in the characters’ personalities and aims to describe the motives behind their actions. One of the most famous historical figures presented in the book is Petar Berkovsky. The article discusses Petar Berkovsky’s character and the literature interpretation of history.
