Summary/Abstract: The article reports on the speculative turn in posthumanism and indicates its worldbuildingrole. Marzec reflects on the shape, role, and impact of philosophical notions onreality change. To that end, the text employs categories of Nick Land’s hyperstition andArmen Avanessian’s metanoia. Then, Marzec distinguishes between postmodern fictionsand speculative stories, which he considers a necessary component of realistic thinking. He presents specific speculative proposals, namely Donna Haraway’s take on sciencefiction compared to Quentin Meillassoux’s bold extro-science fiction project. Finally,Marzec proves that stories that employ speculation stem from the premonition thatrealistic thinking must be weird (Graham Harman) or even magical (Federico Campagna).
