Essence and structure of the psychological concept of symbol

Summary/Abstract: Symbols, their study and usage, have extremely important meaning in people’s life nowadays. Their role and function in research of people’s thinking and imagination become more and more important. To a certain extent this fact comes from the present world of images, which we live in. The modern interpretations of ancient myths and the formation of present myths contribute to understanding the importance of symbols. In fact, symbols are in the middle of present imagery life, which surrounds us everywhere at our daily life – at TV screen, at cinema, on internet and everywhere else. Symbols, to a big extend find the secrets of our unconscious psychic content and lead us to the most intimate nature of our actions and open human conscious to unknown and endless places. Our investigation has its goal to make a basic theoretical and historical analysis of studies at symbols with a view to create a fond of exhaustively cover, differentiation and systematization of symbols in groups according to their background and different forms of application, elucidating the process of symbolization and defining the role of symbol in determination of human behavior in different spheres of practice.
