Summary/Abstract: The study explores self-presentation strategies of the individual in the Internet and by examining some opinions about a compensatory function of the web comes to its own conclusions that confirm those. The possibility to compensate lack of self-confidence and communication barriers, to overcome inner inconsistencies and to develop new characteristics as a result of the communication on the Internet affects the degree of one’s self-contentment both in the web and reality. Besides these men tend to behave different in both environments and the younger a person is, the more he/she tends to be prone to manipulate the information concerning his/herself the study reveals.
