Summary/Abstract: The study presents results from empirical research on the psychological characteristics of career choice in early adulthood. The research is based on the multidimensional model for occupational choice, developed by J. Chartrand, St. Robbins, W. Morril and K. Boggs, measuring career indecisiveness which consists of informational and personal-emotional factors, interacting when people decide on a career. To examine the convergent validity and the external reliability of the instrument we have used correlation analyses with John Holland’s Vocational Identity Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Goal Instability Scale and Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. When adapting the model for Bulgarian sociocultural environment, high psychometrical indicators were registered, which gives grounds for successful use of the model by consultants in distinguishing the reasons for the indecisiveness in career choice.
