Orientations to happiness – theoretical analysis

Summary/Abstract: The issue of happiness is of growing importance to the modern society. This predicates the necessity of studying in detail the nature and the mechanisms that characterize and influence happiness. This article is centered on one of the aspects of the topic – the ways people use to pursue and achieve conceptualized as orientations to happiness. The article reviews the main theories as well as studies conducted in the field in order to outline the sophisticated nature of the studied personal predisposition and its correlations with other constructs.
