Compulsory insurance in Poland in 2016–2021

Summary/Abstract: In the Polish doctrine of insurance law, at least several attempts have been made to determine the cur- rent number of compulsory insurances, as well as basic problems relating to the domestic legislation in the indicated scope. However, the normative elements of compulsory insurance are exceptionally “plastic” and prone to changes. In other words, research on compulsory insurance issues requires periodic updates, both in terms of quantity and quality. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to present the state of compulsory insurance in Poland for the years 2016–2021. The paper introduces the results of analysis concerning not only the domestic law but also the legislation of other EU Member States, in particular in the context of the European Commission’s communication on compulsory insurance in EU Member States of October 18, 2019.
