Summary/Abstract: This article concerns the meaning of terms „consanguinity” and „affinity” and other genealogical terms. The second part of the article is dedicated to show a historical evolution of range the consanguinity and affinity as a impediments to marriage in Canon Law of Roman Catholic Church, from its source in the Law of the Bible and in the Roman Law, to 1917, when the first Code of Canon Law was published. Furthermore, in the article it is shown an influence of Canon Law on forming of impediments of consanguinity and affinity in FamilyLaw in force in Poland to the early 20th century.
