Summary/Abstract: This article is dedicated to the particle of ancient and important city in Roman times - Amiternum. Among the artifacts and architectural remains of the Roman Empire survived the catacombs. In this article the author discusses in detail the historical development of the catacombs, draws attention to their gradual architectural transformation and puts hypothesesas to their importance in the life of the local Christian community until modern times. The value of the study increases the fact of consulting the effects with the latest opinions and the state of debate among prominent Italian archaeologists.
