Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to present how communication evolved at the beginning of the 20th century, around the first world war. The armed confrontation is a prime subject for the media, but media organizations have often found themselves subject to restrictions. Disinformation, often deliberate, also played an important role in this period, also marked by the intensification of civic movements to acquire important rights, such as women's suffrage.
