Summary/Abstract: In terms of relations between Poland and Czechoslovakia, the years 1945–1947 represent a distinctive period. From the capitals of both countries emanated slogans of Slavic unity, which did not do anything to dispel the existing mutual conflicting territorial claims. One of the elements of this dispute was Czech claims to southern fragments of Upper Silesia. In the period in question, many articles appearing in Czechoslovakian press, in popular scientific publications and in studies of academic and textbook nature aimed at justifying Czech claims. These publications mainly expounded arguments of historical, ethnographic, military, and economic nature. At the same time, these issues received far less attention in Poland. The Polish side in this argument adopted a defensive stance, concentrating on refuting Czechoslovakian arguments.
