Summary/Abstract: The bull 'De salute animarum' (16 July 1821) of Pope Pius VII regulated the status of the Catholic Church in the Prussian state. It established the new boundaries of dioceses, the rules for the staffing of ecclesiastical posts, the use of state subsidies by the Church, and the method of governmental supervision of Catholic parishes. This document was translated into Polish by Fr Mieczysław Józefczyk.
