Development of capabilities in the space domain by space tycoons

Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to identify the state of militarisation and weaponisation of space by the three major space powers. These included the United States of America, the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. In the area of militarisation, the status of capabilities such as positioning, navigation and synchronisation systems, space situational awareness sys- tem, early warning capabilities, as well as space launch capabilities were identified. In the area of weaponisation, the state of development of kinetic, non-kinetic, electronic and cyber weapons was assessed. The results of the research indicated the development of various research directions in the development of the indicated competencies. It also turns out that, depending on the state actor developing them, they are at different technological levels.
