Summary/Abstract: The paper is a description of several years’ work of theologians, historians of the region, art historians, musicologists, literary researchers, cultural scholars and religious researchers on the subject of saints’ place in faith, piety, theology and art, formerly and nowadays, in an universal and regional perspective. In the 2010 – 2018, at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, were eight seminars and one conference on the hagiological theme – that is concerning the saints and holiness (gr. hagios – saint). The hagiological research initiative comes from the Warmian theologians, inspired by Bishop Jacek Jezierski. The hagiological topic was discussed interdisciplinary. Subject, whose were on the top: Mother of God, St. Joseph, St. Anthony of Padova, St. Nicholas of Myra, St. Mary Magdalene, St. Catherine of Alexandria, St. Jacek Odrowąż (Hyacint of Poland), All Saints, Our Lady of Gietrzwałd, St. Jacob the Apostle (Larger). The results of the discussions were developed in the books – as a collective works. Conclusions point to the possibility of creating hagiological profiles of saints, and the appropriateness of specifying the methodology of trans- and multidisciplinary research in the field of a new, hitherto unrecognized discipline, which has been called: aspectual hagiology. The new discipline convenes the specialists in various disciplines, on a common research subject – holiness, and directs towards the innovation.
