Summary/Abstract: In 1850, the Catholic dioceses in the Prussian state were being visited by a fraud posing for the papal nuncio and prince Karol Aleksander Altieri. He managed to extort money from the church hierarchs. The fraud was captured and sent to a Roman prison. The European press has published reports on this matter for many months.
