Summary/Abstract: The article presents one selected and basic problem related to the subject of corporeality in terms of an outstanding thinker from Heidegger’s homeland – Hans-Eduard Hengstenberg. It is about understanding the body, firstly, in a physical sense, and secondly – as a manifestation of the spirit (and thus an expression of personal life and dignity). The discussion of corporeality in the second perspective was narrowed down to indicating the content directly related to the aspects of physical corporeality, which were presented in the article. Physical corporeality must also be perceived in the world of non-human natural beings, as well as inartifacts. Hengstenberg presented his original phenomenological and metaphysical concept using a phenomenological description and metaphysical interpretation. At the end, specific areas of further research on this issue are outlined, shown by the excellent Scheler’s student very insightfully and, in many contexts, surprisingly independently
