Summary/Abstract: In this paper we will explore and apply an autofictional reading grid in the works of a contemporary Romanian writer, Simona Popescu, who seems to be focussing, in all of her works, on a writing pattern that migrates around “mașscrisism”, the literary device of the “Group from Brașov”, inspired by the syntagm “as if I were writing myself”, testifying to their desire to write their “biographies in reality“. The chosen texts are based on this new way of self-expression, through an oblique autobiographical approach, which focuses on strategies of (auto)fictionalization. The author is not just mirroring her own image in the text, but she is also plunging into the fiction of the self, through various ego-positions created around it.
