Summary/Abstract: All in all, the role of dogs in uniformed services is invaluable, as demonstrated, for instance, by the range of methods that can be used in each service. Moreover, their presence has a direct or indirect impact on increasing the security of the state (internal and external) – quod erat demonstrandum.In the present study, many references have been made to different normative acts (of various ranks), illustrating the use of dogs in the Police, the Prison Service, the Border Guard, and the Customs Service.It should also be stressed that a comprehensive study of the subject of official dogs, in the opinion of the author of the study, constitutes a terra incognita, as currently there is no study addressing the issue of the presence of official dogs in all uniformed services in a synthetic way (extensive historical-legal analysis).Therefore, this work should be treated as a unique introduction (prelude) to further, significant
