Summary/Abstract: The author identifies elements of Western culture that influenced Mihai Eminescu's life and work: politics, science, philosophy, literature, music and religion. Political events: Little Union (1859), Hohenzollern Dynasties, Kingdom of Romania (1881). Scientifically, we talk about the Theory of Evolution, Darwin, Electric Current (Faraday), Edison (the light bulb). The philosophy of Kant, Feuerbach, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche left their mark on this period. Literature was marked by Goethe, Byron, Baudelaire. In music we have Schubert, Chopin, Saint-Saens and Wagner. In religion we have liberal theology: Harnak, Wellhausen, Wrede.
