Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to define the role performed by full-size reconstructions of archaeological sites in the perspective of the development of archaeological tourism in contemporary Poland. These issues will be discussed in the context of the transformations of attitudes of the modern man towards the past, as well as the phenomenon of „commodification” of the past, as a result of which it is converted into marketable products in the form of goods, services or experiences. After defining the forms of contemporary cultural tourism, including archaeological tourism as well as living history tourism, the characteristics of the so-called tourism product and the criteria of its classification will be presented. From the perspective of this aspect reconstructions of archaeological sites will then be discussed, including the potential they have to offer in creating archaeological tourism products, as well as the risks associated with them.
