Summary/Abstract: The times we live in carry great changes, which are felt in the teaching process as well. Students should be encouraged to view education as a permanent process, that is, they should be taught how to learn. Accordingly, it is necessary for teachers to adopt a changed attitude towards work and working habits. Quality of teaching depends, to a great extent, on teachers’ personal and professional competencies. Modern teaching places the student at the center of the teaching process, and the teacher faces numerous requirements and obligations, in order for the teaching process to be successful. The teacher needs to be professional, competent, creative, a researcher, critically oriented, but also to recognize the affinities and emotions of his/her students. An integrated teaching approach and various project activities create a change in the role of students, as well. Students are also placed in the position of researchers, creators, presenters and evaluators. When it comes to project teaching, in which knowledge is gained by researching a certain topic, students are required to be independent during the research process, as well as to produce the expected end result. From goal to outcome, teachers apply a variety of methods, as well as Bloom's taxonomy, in order to encourage student development towards the desired level of creativity. In addition, the most relevant competencies needed for lifelong learning are developed. This paper presents certain project activities, as examples of good practice, which, through an interdisciplinary approach, solved a certain problem or deepened students' knowledge. As a result, the expected outcomes of each activity were achieved.
